First Impression: When you first meet Theodore, you're mostly struck just by how quiet the man really is. The word reserved doesn't seem to cover how much Professor Nott is into his own head. He's an attractive man as well, and has been told he can be quite imposing. The fact that he's six foot two adds to this, and it doesn't help that he always dresses in the finest suit money can buy.
Hogwarts Specific:
House: Slytherin
Wand: Mahogany, Runespoor Fang, 9 1/2 inches
Pet: A Northern Hawk Owl, by the name of Cassus
Personality: (200 words min)
In short, Theodore is distant but kind. He has a strong foot hold in the academic world, and would much rather be working than socializing. He views most things objectively, and loves to keep secrets. He is constantly fighting an inner battle over whether or not material objects mean anything. Philosophically, he can not find a reason for them to be of any value, (other than monetary,) but emotionally he is as attached as any good Capricorn. While he is obviously one of the brightest in his field, he has done nearly nothing of note in the ten years since he was a student at Hogwarts. He was more content spending his time reading and writing about History than actually creating any. He completely avoids conflict- to the point of ignoring it's existence entirely. He likes to think he's smarter than everyone around him, but feels guilty when he actually expresses this belief, so he keeps his distaste to snide comments and the occasional passive aggressive note attached to the offending Professor's door. He has a sort of pathological detachment to the world, and took the job at Hogwarts mostly to hide from it.

Theodore Nott was born December 28th, 1980. His parents, Orion and Ansley Nott. His mother, who was already reaching her elder years, passed shortly after his birth. He was raised by his father, and was completely spoiled as a child until Voldemort's return. At this time, his life as he knew it ceased. It seemed to happen to a lot of Death Eater children, actually. As soon as the Dark Lord returned, their lives were turned upside down. Theo had never been one for grandeur, and was not so certain that a wizarding world underneath Voldemort would be any better than the current one. Infact, from what he saw, it would be considerably less stable and considerably more dangerous. This was only confirmed to him after Severus Snape, whom he admired, murdered the Headmaster of Hogwarts. His schooling up till that point had been impeccable. Theodore is very smart, and excelled in his classes far more often than his housemates. Once his father began to give their family fortune away to the Dark Lord, the young Nott left quietly. He spent the summer before his last year of school with his friend, Daphne, and visiting his fellows. The year went by rather quickly, and strangely, and at the Battle of Hogwarts Theo was one of the only Slytherins who did not follow Ms. Parkinson out of the building. A side effect of this being that he actually had to fight, and stun, his own father.
When leaving Hogwarts, he actually had quiet a few options. His grades had been fantastic, and so were his recommendations. He could have done anything he wanted to do, really, but decided that the outside world had become far too loud for his tastes. As a homebody, Theodore was worn out by the events of his final year. He spent the next decade hiding in his family's mansion. His father had been sentenced to life in Azkaban prison, and Theodore had been left with the entire estate to himself.
He came to Hogwarts not because of a calling or because of any sort of need, but because he was asked to.

It was something of an ending.
Theodore Nott moved his black hair to the right, out of his eyes. He was standing over his Mother's grave, flowers in hand. It was snowing and had been for days. The cold was nearly as unbearable as the graveyard he was standing in. His Mother had died when he was very young, and as such, he barely remembers her. Nevertheless, he still came every year, this same date, this same time, to pay his respects. It was a tradition of sorts. He knelt down, placing the flowers on the ground, above where his mother would be resting. He stayed that way for a moment, and then rose slowly. The flowers, already covered in snow, still shown brightly under the winter sun. After standing there for a few minutes, he could hear his father calling for him in the distance. He turned swiftly and left, knowing his father would not have the patience for his tardiness.
His father was standing by the side of the street, looking rather impatient. They had walked to the graveyard, as it was only a few meters down the street. He joined him; his head watching his feet walk through the snow. His father’s head held high, never afraid of anything. He envied his father greatly. There were so many things in Theodore’s life that he was afraid of – the most obvious being life itself. He had been hiding in the houses of Purebloods all summer, hoping the previous year would disappear. He had been to the Malfoy’s only last week, speaking with Draco about the movements of their elders. While he thought of Malfoy as a megalomaniac, he had to admit that the boy had his thoughts together. He wasn’t stupid, actually, he was far from it. There weren’t many that either boy would consider an equal, and yet their conversations always had a distinct tone of respect. Neither of them was looking forward to going back to Hogwarts.
His father’s pace quickened, and Theodore forgot his thoughts rapidly. He shuffled quickly to his side. Their home was around the corner. It wasn’t a large house, as much of the Nott’s fortune had been spent in more...appropriate places, but it was enough for a family of two. It was nearly empty at this point, as his father was systematically selling everything they owned of value. The goal, his father said, was to gather enough money to support the Dark Lord until he regained his full strength. All Death Eaters were contributing money, and the more you contributed, the better off you were. If it wasn’t for magic, the family would be destitute at this point. His room, fortunately, remained untouched. It seemed his father was at least respectful of Theodore’s things and privacy. The only thing worse then death was a person who invaded your personal space. They entered the house, silently putting away their coats. The younger Nott subconsciously brushed another piece of dark hair out of his eyes, and moved towards the stairs in their home. His father had already disappeared, most likely to find as much firewhiskey as possible. We all have our traditions, after all.
His feet felt heavy as he walked up the stairs to his room. The hallway was dreary, and nearly completely destroyed from wear and tear. The Nott’s had lived here for ages, and had never been good enough with Transfiguration to fix the various problems the house gathered as it aged. Theodore ran his hands along the wood of the hallway as he walked towards his room, feeling all its inconsistencies. It was amazing the place was still in one piece. He finally came upon the door to his room, and stopped. His hand gripped the cold doorknob, turning it slowly, and then casually entered his room. He closed the door behind him, and locked it. He laid down on his bed, moving his hands behind his head. His stomach growled at him, and he mentally told it to shut the hell up. He hadn’t eaten in over a week, and he wasn’t planning on eating till he was back at Hogwarts. He was horrible at magically making food, and his father wasn’t much better. His pride was getting in the way, so he simply decided that starving was the appropriate course of action. So be quiet, stomach. You’ve got a lot of waiting to do. He hadn’t been sleeping either, but for totally different reasons. His body was simply against the idea, and apparently was forming a plot against him
The hours past by, his thoughts dragging him from one place to the next. Night came, and it was time for him to leave. He happily gathered the things that weren’t in his trunk, and stuffed them in it as quickly as possible. He took his trunk down stairs, and managed to wash his face and run a comb through his hair before his father yelled that it was time to leave. He exited the bathroom, only to see his father waiting for him. The elder Nott grabbed Theodore’s arm stiffly, and apprated them to their destination. Theodore was pleasantly surprised, as it was still snowing lightly at the Greengrass Manor. Although he couldn’t stand the cold, he always loved the snow. He turned to say goodbye to his father, only to notice he had already left. Wonderful, he thought. The man has about as much time for me as I do for him. The only thing worse then death was realizing that you only had enough time for your parents to ditch you before you were dead and in the ground. The young Slytherin turned back to the lovely Manor, and rang the bell. He couldn’t help but hope that Mrs. Greengrass had saved him some leftovers from dinner.

Slytherin
The traits emphasized here will be ambition, determination, discipline, and pragmatism. You can't make that castle in the sky if you don't build a solid foundation under it, and Capricorns excel at building foundations. (Actually, they excel at planning the foundations and directing others to do the grunt labour. It's not that they're afraid to get their hands dirty, but large work usually requires delegation and a staff, and Capricorns are managers more often than not.) While not flamboyant or showy about it, Capricorns still tend to be obsessive overachievers, a common trait in House Slytherin. Too, wizards born under the sign of Capricorn are good at being discreet, secretive, and diplomatic; whereas the Libra's diplomacy is based on charm and a desire for harmony, the Capricorn's diplomacy is based on the knowledge that being on good terms with people is extremely useful in getting one's way or finding out sensitive information. These also are traits commonly associated with House Slytherin. They might not be sexy traits, but they're very handy.
