Basics
Full Name: Laurence "Laurie" MacEachern II
Played By: -
Birth date: October 25
Blood: Muggleborn
Physical Description:
Height: 5’5"
Weight: 145 lbs
Hair Color: blond
Eye Color: blue-green
First Impression: First impressions of Laurie vary according to the mood you catch him in. When he’s content, you’ll see a confident, good-natured boy. Should he be less that pleased, you may find yourself feeling as if you’re in the presence of an angered hippogriff.
Hogwarts Specific:
House: Gryffindor
Year: 4th
Wand: Griffin feather and rowen, 10”
Pet: Rock Eagle Owl, named Yeshe.
Personality:
Laurie’s most defining characteristic is his incredible, almost maniacal determination. When he sets his mind to a task, he will succeed at it. This is both his greatest strength, and his worst weakness. Though he rarely fails at what he sets out to do, when he does the results tend to be serious.
Though easy to get along with and comfortable around people, Laurie is very independent. He feels a very strong need to be self-reliant. When he is over controlled- especially by someone he mistrusts or doesn’t like- he becomes angry. At times he can become bossy and controlling. Laurie enjoys spending time with friends, but also needs time alone.
Being muggleborn, Laurie is into muggle sports. He supports and follows the Glasgow Warriors rugby team, as well as enjoying “a good game o’ footy.” Laurie himself is a good skier, and most notably, mountain climber. Since coming to Hogwarts, he has also become a great fan of quidditch, as well as a fair player.
Laurie is confident and outspoken, he never has trouble voicing his opinion. This quality helps him in classes, and makes him a good speaker. He can cope with criticism, and is not easily insulted. He doesn’t shy away from the truth, and his sometimes brutal honesty often gets him into trouble.
When angry, Laurie sometimes seems to overreact. He tends to stomp around, yell, and swear a lot. This sometimes alarms people, however, this is just the way he is. Usually he’ll be over it and laughing again in 10 minutes. However, when truly provoked, Laurie is a daunting adversary. His quick-witted verbal attacks are hard to better, and he has been know to get into the occasional fist fight.
When in a good mood, Laurie is a lot of fun to be around. He laughs and jokes, and is always game for something new. Laurie is fast-paced and always moving, he’s never bored. Despite being nearly constantly in trouble for some infraction of rules or other, Laurie is well-liked by most of his teachers.

Family History:
Laurie grew up with his father, Laurence Senior, his mother having left when he was young. The two were very close, Laurence was a young father and often seemed more like an older brother to Laurie. Laurence, a muggle, was an accomplished mountain climber, having summited some of the highest mountains in the Alps, Rockies, Andes, Karakorum, and many others. He introduced his son to climbing at a young age. Laurie climbed Ben Nevis, the highest mountain is Scotland, at the age of 9. Never really accepted by the other kids in his town, and constantly bored with school, Laurie spent as much time with his father as possible.
However, when Laurie was 10, his father was killed in an avalanche. Laurence had been attempting a winter accent of Makulu, 5th highest mountain in the world, and considered one of the hardest. Young Laurie was sent to live with his aunt, his only close family member. He spent the trying to cope with the death of his father. To the distress of his aunt, Elaine MacEachern, his father’s fate did nothing to damped his passion for climbing. Indeed, it only increased his drive to succeed. At 11 years old, Laurie resolved he would, someday, summit Makulu.
The next summer, Laurie’s life was again shaken to the roots, this time by a small, wax-sealed letter. By September 1st, Laurie was fully equipped with wand, robes, books, and owl, and aboard the Hogwarts Express.
During his first three years at Hogwarts, Laurie slid easily into the wizarding world, quickly establishing his place in the school and his house. He enjoyed most of the classes, finding them far more engaging than the classes in his old muggle school. (He’d done badly, missing a lot of school and failing most of his classes.) He spends some holidays, and the summer with his aunt, and continues to do as much climbing as he can.
Brief Roleplay Sample:
Laurie turned to glare at the offending second-year. “I’ve got my own homework to do. You want someone to read your essay, ask a professor.”
Intimidated, the boy retreated hastily. Laurie returned to staring at the magazine, something about a witch in Ireland who’d discovered a new species of dragon. This he continued for about five minutes before at last tossing the magazine onto the nearest table. Striding up the stairs to his dormitory, he pulled on a sweater, grabbed his Nimbus 2020, and wrenched open the large window.
“Going out again?” inquired his roommate, looking up from a thick textbook.
“Yeah,” answered Laurie, clambering onto the windowsill. “Cover for me, would you? Say I’m in the shower or something...” he suggested, and with that, launched himself out into the frosty air.
Flying through the night cleared Laurie's head. The cold nipped at his face, but he ignored it. Cold had never bothered him. Soaring above the Forbidden Forest, snow-covered trees below him and a spectacular blanket of stars above, Laurie could feel his mood lighten, the change felt almost physical. Laughing a puff of white out into the black air, he turned the broom sharply back towards the castle.
The cake is a lie...
Sorry I took so long to finish it! I think it's done now!
