Basics
Full Name: Lauren Goldstein
Played By: Emily Browning
Birthdate: August 13th
Blood: Mixed blood
Physical Description:
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 115lbs
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Hazel
First Impression: With a cheeky grin and friendly face, anybody first meeting Miss Chaucer is struck with the impression of innocence. She is also quite quickly forgotten, with not much about her truly standing out. Of course, this suits her just fine, because someone not easily remembered is never blamed. If you spend any time with Lauren, you'll quickly notice how many little "accidents" happen when she's around. If meeting someone for the first time, Lauren fidgets and seems disinterested, but really she is just uncomfortable.
Hogwarts Specific:
House: Ravenclaw
Year: Second
Wand: Willow, Merrow hair, 11 1/2 inches
Pet: A black cat named Callisto. She has owned Callisto since she was a young girl.
Personality: (200 words min)
Although at first glance, Lauren is easily overlooked, once you get to know her you will never forget her. Unable to cope in one-on-one situations, the best way to get to know Lauren is in a group setting, because it is here she most shines. She is loud and proud, but by no means is she stupid. While much of what she does may seem impulsive and reckless, much of the time the idea for it has been forming in her mind for some time, and she will explode into activity when the thinking is done. Always willing to try new things, of course she was BEYOND excited at the prospect of magic. As such, she is an eager student...although only during sceduled lesson time. As soon as she leaves the classroom, her mind moves onto more important things, such as how to best create a stir in the Ravenclaw Common, or how to terrorise her dorm mates and friends.
Lauren has based her entire existence at Hogwarts on becoming a one-woman competitor for the still revered Weasley Twins. Her only problem is her total aversion to any form of punishment, so many of her pranks, while they do not go unnoticed, are so well executed that the teachers have no idea it is her. Of course, there was the memorable incident in her first year where she locked a group of Hufflepuff girls in the second floor boys bathroom, and flooded it with stink pellets....3 months of detention with Professor Longbottom in the greenhouses soon cured her of something so crude and obvious. Now her pranks are more subtle, and as such, most of the teachers believe she has settled down. If only they knew the truth behind this bright-eyed, friendly girl's decieving grin.

Lauren Goldstein, born August 13th 2005, is the only child of Anthony Goldstein and his muggle-born wife, Emma Mandebaum. She had a typical Jewish upbringing, and as such is probably more used to getting her own way than most. From early childhood she knew what her father was, and was always curious. Growing up in an all-jewish suburb of Greater London, her favourite form of entertainment was watching her father apparate to his job, as the new manager of Flourish and Blotts. Her mother was a muggle school teacher, and as such she attended muggle school, excelling in all her classes.
Of course, this delighted Anthony, who had been a Ravenclaw at school, and as such hoped that when Lauren recieved her letter, the hat would recognise her brains and place her there too. Her mother, still a little dubious about the magic world, secretly hoped her daughter would turn out to be normal child, and go on to University. Lauren's best subject was science, particularly biology, so all of her muggle relatives saw a future doctor in the making.
Of course, this rather conventional idea went out the window as soon as Lauren recieved her letter, and preperations were made for her to begin her first year at Hogwarts...
FIRST YEAR
Her first glimpse of the Hogwarts Express sent Lauren into fits of rapture. Seeing all the other young students, eager as she was to learn all the wonderful things of the wizarding world, made her feel more accepted and welcome than she ever had in her life. And of course, it only got better. Being sorted into Ravenclaw was, at the time, her proudest moment, because her father had told her all about the wonderful Rowena Ravenclaw, and the part his house had played in the Battle of Hogwarts.
Lauren quickly threw herself into her lessons, wanting to absorb as much information into her imature brain as possible, and then some. For the entire winter term, everything was wonderful, and she was a model Ravenclaw. Then, when she returned home for Christmas, something changed. One of her friends sent her a box of joke items from Zonko's, and for the entire break she amused herself by torturing her parents, completely disregarding all her homework. It was then that the Lauren we see today was born...

Running quickly down the corridor, Lauren shouted at the top of her lungs,
"FIGHT! FIGHT IN THE BATHROOM!" A small group of Hufflepuff girls, who had been talking amongst themselves while waiting for their Transfiguration lesson to begin, turned to look at her. Lauren stopped before them, huffing and puffing, trying to catch her breath.
"What's wrong now Goldstein?" asked one of the girls scathingly. Lauren had never much liked those Hufflepuff girls.
"Oh Jenny, there's some 6th year boys fighting in the bathroom! I swear, someone might grow an extra arm soon! C'mon, lets go watch!" She ran back up towards the bathroom, the group of girls following close behind. When she reached the door, she flung it open and ushered the girls inside.
"They're just around the corner there by now. I saw them go in there!" Once the last girl was inside, Lauren threw the last of her Christmas supplies, a full bag of stink pellets, in behind them, and closed the door. Then she pulled out her wand, muttering the locking charm she had just learnt in the book "Special Charms for the Average Witch." The charm was meant to be for something like a journal or a chocolate stash, but it served it's purpose just fine now. She could hear the girls now, banging on the door, gagging at the stench, just begging to be let out. Of course, Lauren liked those girls just where they were.
Triumphant, she left the door and walked back down the corridor, a smug grin on her face.
